My goal at Kicker Fish Bait Company is to offer anglers distinctive new baits that can be added to their own catching arsenal. For bass fishing at any depth, any cover, in any season and utilizing many different methods, the Original Texas Weedless Wacky Worm® does it all. How The Original Texas Weedless Wacky Worm^tm was born … by Kicker Fish Bait Co. Founder/Professional Bass Angler and Inventor, Kelly Jones, Jr.

There are hundreds if not thousands of methods used to catch Bass. One of the methods that has been proven successful in lakes, rivers and reservoirs through recent years is Wacky-Style Fishing. It has become a way of life for anglers, especially in the south. It amazed me how a "do nothing" bait could catch so many Bass. I've often wondered what the Bass thinks that it resembles. A Shad? A Crawfish? I've even been told that to the Bass, a wacky-style worm resembles a bird that is flapping its wings. Whatever I've thought it resembles, the Bass just sees it as food. Many anglers have had great success using traditional wacky-style worm methods, but one recurring disadvantage of the method is not being able to fish the bait around extreme, heavy cover without getting hung-up repeatedly. Also, there is the issue of slinging off of the bait. Every additional cast is a definite disadvantage.

Traditional Wacky- Style Worming is not what anglers would call a “weedless” bait. The hook point is exposed. And fishing this style around heavy cover can cause an angler a great deal of frustration. Getting hung up is a common problem when trying to put the bait deep into the cover where the Bass hang out and use this cover to their advantage. They feel safe there and the cover gives them an ambush point to feed. I often thought that this style of fishing was limited to what cover could be effectively fished. If the cover got too heavy, just switch to a jig or a Texas-rigged worm.

I tried the weed-guard hooks and they definitely helped me to get into the thicker cover, but still many times I found myself up in the cover, getting “un-hung” and spooking any fish in the area at the same time. Also, my hook-up ratio definitely dropped with the weed-guard.

As many tournament anglers know, giving the Bass something new … a different look, fall or presentation can make the difference between fishing and catching. So, I came up with something that is truly unique: A Wacky-Style Worm that is rigged weedless (like a Texas-rigged worm) but can cast into areas of thick cover (where other types of bait are traditionally used). It has helped me to put thousands of dollars into my pocket on the tournament trail, but more importantly, it has helped me to catch more Bass. And catching more Bass is the bottom line.

I designed this bait for many reasons... to make myself and others more successful anglers, and to be able to get my worm into cover that no other wacky-style worm has ever been fished. And I wanted to give the Bass something they'd never seen before.
